3billion Signs Genomic Analysis Contract with Asan Medical Center for K-gNBS Project
- Contract covers genomic analysis for the KDCA-funded K-gNBS project led by Asan Medical Center
- Korea’s first WGS-based newborn screening project to expand 3billion’s clinical experience in genomic newborn screening

SEOUL, South Korea, June 15, 2026 — 3billion, an AI-powered rare disease diagnostics company, has signed a contract with Asan Medical Center to provide genomic analysis and variant interpretation for the Whole-Genome Sequencing-Based Newborn Screening (K-gNBS) Project.
Supported by the Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency (KDCA), K-gNBS is a research project focused on genetic screening for newborns. Asan Medical Center serves as the lead research institution, with the project overseen by a team led by Professor Beom-hee Lee. The project aims to use whole-genome sequencing (WGS) to identify risks associated with approximately 500 rare diseases at the newborn stage and evaluate the clinical utility of genomic newborn screening.
Under the contract, 3billion will perform whole-genome screening for newborns and provide test reports. The three-year project will run from 2026 through 2028 and is expected to include a total of 1,800 tests.
Through its participation, 3billion plans to build clinical experience in genomic newborn screening in Korea and strengthen the technical and operational capabilities needed to support the establishment and broader adoption of genomic newborn screening (gNBS) nationwide.
