Please note that we are unable to accept blood collected from patients with certain hematological conditions.

Patients with hematologic malignancy:

Blood samples from patients with hematologic malignancy contain cells with abnormal variants, which may affect the sensitivity and specificity of a test.

Patients with a bone marrow transplant:

Patients who have received homologous bone marrow transplant, stem cell transplant, or blood transfusion may have blood containing DNA that does not belong to the patient.

Patients who have had a blood transfusion:

Blood taken from patients who have had a blood transfusion for more than one week is not known to affect the results of genetic testing. However, results may vary depending on the patient’s symptoms, the amount and frequency of transfusions, so we recommend sending a sample as a buccal swab instead of blood in this case.
