What type of sequencing technology is used?

3billion uses Whole Exome Sequencing (WES) technology to analyze all exonic regions of ~20,000 human genes. We use an IDT xGen kit that uses DNA-based probes to capture the exome of ~35Mb in size. DNA-based probes are known to provide higher stability than RNA-based probes. Sequencing is performed using Illumina NovaSeq6000 to generate a mean depth of ~100X to ensure 98% or more of the targeted region is covered at 20X or more depth-of-coverage.
